    Silent Rides- Blocked Blessings

Hey y’all! I know it’s been a minute since I posted anything and I apologize for that, but most importantly I apologize to myself for not showing up. Ok now that that’s out of the way, let’s get into it. A few months ago, I started occasionally driving in silence. It was weird and uncomfortable because I always like some type of noise going on. Don’t ask me why, I just do. But the first time, this word just hit my spirit: “Don’t block other people’s blessings because of your disobedience.” That about took me out! I often feel in my heart to do something but don’t follow through, either…

    Daily Practice of Gratitude

What daily habit do you do that improves your quality of life? One habit I try to practice daily is gratitude. Gratitude involves showing appreciation for the things and/or people in your life that are meaningful or valuable to you. When I focus on what I do have instead of what I don’t and just truly being thankful, it makes a great difference. Once I started practicing gratitude, I noticed I started feeling more joy, peace, better sleep, and less anxiety. It also helps me to stay in the moment and not worry about possibilities of things that may or may not happen.

    Writing is Therapeutic for Me

What do you enjoy most about writing? The thing I enjoy most about writing is the ability to express myself. I sometimes have a hard time expressing myself, especially now with having to do speech therapy, but writing/typing it out really helps. I may not be able to get my words out clearly, but I don’t have to worry about getting tongue tied when I’m writing. It’s even easier for me to write my prayers down than saying them out loud bc I can really express how I’m feeling and express my gratitude for God that way. Writing is a form of therapy for me.

    Grief Over a Parent

May 30,2008 is a date I’ll never forget. I may have forgotten a lot of details from the day, but the actual date I won’t. It’s the day my mother passed away. She had been dealing with an illness for a few years, but I still wasn’t prepared for her death. I had just recently graduated high school 8 days prior to her passing. She may not have been able to walk in there, but please believe she still came and looked nice too! I’m so happy and grateful that she was able to see me give my speech and walk across the stage. It’s been 15 years and I…

    Strong Black Woman ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾

One word that is often used to describe a black woman is “strong”💪🏾. She’s also thought to be independent and always the rock that everyone can lean on, but who can she lean on?? She’ll help take the load off of someone else’s back while she’s about to fall over carrying her load along with others! The title of being strong makes her feel weak when she has to ask for help or feel bad when she has to say no. But is that healthy🤔? Always being there for everybody else but not for yourself? Like the saying goes, “you can’t pour from an empty cup.” It’s hard being looked…

    Fear of the Unknown

Is there anybody that hates the unknown?? 🙋🏾‍♀️🙋🏾‍♀️ I know I do! I’m the type of person that wants to know everything! How is everything going to go, how is it going to work out, where it’s all going to take place, etc. I absolutely HATE the unknown, but isn’t that a part of trusting God 🤔? He promised to order our STEPS, not show us the entire staircase all at once! “Part of trusting God is sometimes having unanswered questions. Trust Him until He reveals.” I heard that in a sermon and it really stuck out to me because Lord knows I have a ton of questions that He…

    The Social Media Trap

Social media can be a great resource but it can also cause a lot of trouble. When Facebook first came out I believe it was a great way to connect with friends and family. You had Facebook for college students and then for high school students. You even had to have an invitation to join the high school version. Now it’s free for all along with Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and any other social media platform that is out there. I feel like now social media isn’t just about connecting but instead it’s being used as a platform to show the world your success. If you’re not careful you can easily…

    Growth Through Celibacy

9/7/2020 made a year of me being celibate! Whoop whoop! Now if you would’ve told me at the beginning of last year I would be celibate for a year I probably would’ve laughed at you, but I made it and I’m so proud of myself (pats self on the back). This journey has been liberating and much needed. I’ve been learning so much about myself and it’s open my eyes a lot. I’ve grown closer to God and I’m excited to see where this journey goes. The most important thing this journey has taught me is my worth. At one point in life I found my worth in having sex.…
