Silent Rides- Blocked Blessings
Hey y’all! I know it’s been a minute since I posted anything and I apologize for that, but most importantly I apologize to myself for not showing up. Ok now that that’s out of the way, let’s get into it. A few months ago, I started occasionally driving in silence. It was weird and uncomfortable because I always like some type of noise going on. Don’t ask me why, I just do. But the first time, this word just hit my spirit: “Don’t block other people’s blessings because of your disobedience.” That about took me out! I often feel in my heart to do something but don’t follow through, either…

Daily Practice of Gratitude
What daily habit do you do that improves your quality of life? One habit I try to practice daily is gratitude. Gratitude involves showing appreciation for the things and/or people in your life that are meaningful or valuable to you. When I focus on what I do have instead of what I don’t and just truly being thankful, it makes a great difference. Once I started practicing gratitude, I noticed I started feeling more joy, peace, better sleep, and less anxiety. It also helps me to stay in the moment and not worry about possibilities of things that may or may not happen.

Writing is Therapeutic for Me
What do you enjoy most about writing? The thing I enjoy most about writing is the ability to express myself. I sometimes have a hard time expressing myself, especially now with having to do speech therapy, but writing/typing it out really helps. I may not be able to get my words out clearly, but I don’t have to worry about getting tongue tied when I’m writing. It’s even easier for me to write my prayers down than saying them out loud bc I can really express how I’m feeling and express my gratitude for God that way. Writing is a form of therapy for me.

Spring is My Favorite Season 🌸🌼🌺
What is your favorite season of year? Why? Spring is definitely my favorite season of the year! I love the weather during spring. It’s not too cold or hot, it’s just right. Which means I can put away those heavy sweaters and coats, gloves, and boots. Spring I can wear lighter clothing and pull out the sandals! Spring can keep all of the pollen though! It be trying to kill your girl! It’s also beautiful in the springtime with all the blooming flowers! Seeing the flowers and leaves thriving and full of color again reminds me of how God works. We may go through a season where everything seems dead,…

Grief Over a Parent
May 30,2008 is a date I’ll never forget. I may have forgotten a lot of details from the day, but the actual date I won’t. It’s the day my mother passed away. She had been dealing with an illness for a few years, but I still wasn’t prepared for her death. I had just recently graduated high school 8 days prior to her passing. She may not have been able to walk in there, but please believe she still came and looked nice too! I’m so happy and grateful that she was able to see me give my speech and walk across the stage. It’s been 15 years and I…

Strong Black Woman ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
One word that is often used to describe a black woman is “strong”💪🏾. She’s also thought to be independent and always the rock that everyone can lean on, but who can she lean on?? She’ll help take the load off of someone else’s back while she’s about to fall over carrying her load along with others! The title of being strong makes her feel weak when she has to ask for help or feel bad when she has to say no. But is that healthy🤔? Always being there for everybody else but not for yourself? Like the saying goes, “you can’t pour from an empty cup.” It’s hard being looked…

Simple Things Bring Me Joy 🤗💜
I’ve been asked sooo many times what brings me joy or makes me happy and for so long I didn’t know. The only things I could think of is good food and sleep. People looked at me crazy, but since I’ve been off from work I’ve had time to think about it a little more. SN: Now for the people that told me good food and sleep shouldn’t bring me joy, how you gonna tell me??! There are so many food blogs out here, so it’s safe to say that food can bring joy. A good night’s rest will improve your health and mood, so BOOM 💥! Ok back to…

🫣Vulnerability🫣
The Merriam-Webster dictionary definition of vulnerable is: capable of being physically or emotionally wounded; open to attack or damage. Why would I open myself up to being attacked or wounded?! Being vulnerable is hard or at least it is for me! A part of being vulnerable is getting comfortable with being uncomfortable. I believe strength and trust are vital for being vulnerable. It takes a considerable amount of strength and trust to put yourself into a position where you could potentially get hurt. The beauty of it though is that it can be beneficial regardless of how things turn out! Okay so the new bae turned out to be a…

Fear of the Unknown
Is there anybody that hates the unknown?? 🙋🏾♀️🙋🏾♀️ I know I do! I’m the type of person that wants to know everything! How is everything going to go, how is it going to work out, where it’s all going to take place, etc. I absolutely HATE the unknown, but isn’t that a part of trusting God 🤔? He promised to order our STEPS, not show us the entire staircase all at once! “Part of trusting God is sometimes having unanswered questions. Trust Him until He reveals.” I heard that in a sermon and it really stuck out to me because Lord knows I have a ton of questions that He…
